Amd catalyst 12.4b hotfix driver

My crashes are a little different, so maybe you might know what is happening now, Upon crashing now the game is freezing for seconds before it lets me back into it but this time my luminosity is gone, meaning my entire screen is darken, I can still see the game but barely and it usually crashes me again a couple of mins after.

And sometimes if not often I get a complete black screen, where I still ear the sounds from the vent or of people on ventrillo, I can also talk with them but the screen is completely black and no controls can return me to my desktop or close any application, I litteraly need to power my PC down and then back up again. I don't have the necessary knowledge to try overclocking my computer nor do I wish to knowing the consequences and I cannot handle more heat from my laptop, sitting at C in gaming session, wich I heard was ok for laptop sitting on a permanent cooling platform.

So if u guys know any other things I could try to fix my situation or to let me know I'm doomed lol. Kreij Senior Monkey Moderator. Joined Feb 6, Messages 13, 2. Have you cleaned out the laptop lately? Dust build-up could be causing your problems with it running too hot.

Zuljin said:. Ok be here's somethin Alright but then why can i play any other game, including very recent and demanding one on ultra or high settings run with the same heat and never have any issue, for a good 2 years now never go above 95 c.

Been playin on my bro's laptop which is 5 years old, vista service pack 2 and a nvidia geforce m gt and i experience the same heat but without any lag or crashes, playing on low settings however. The reason why your brothers laptop doesnt crash while gaming can be for many reasons Older hardware runs hotter so can be said to have a higher heat tolerance then something that is designed to run cooler.

Maybe it better ventilated or the heatpipes inside are wired up in such a way that it it manages to keep everything below the red zone. Generally speaking though your m is leagues a head of the m and it runs hotter given the improvement over the m. If its a real thin laptop then cooling will definitely suffer its like cramming a 6.

Joined Apr 16, Messages 7, 1. Zuljin did you blow out your laptop like Kreij suggested? If not then you need to do that. I use a cooler that my laptop sits on to keep it cool or my Laptop will crash like yours.

People cuddle up on the couches and lay there laptop on top of there blanket which in turn suffocates the laptop. Update on situation Alright, I was about to give up, but tried somethin new Reduced my heat to 80c in full gaming session, turned I was an idiot and was blocking my laptop fan with my cooling platform, talk about ironic.

So yeah now im at 80c in the worst of cases and experiencing the same cashes. Triangle, adults, Miis, and Bigfoot in the posts.

No, you do not need it, your operating system will have a base level set of drivers that should address AMD video cards. Amd Catalyst Skyrim with our latest release of AMD Catalyst Download the AMD Catalyst software together. This issue has now been addressed with the AMD Catalyst We are vital for Windows 8, the AMD Catalyst runs on the following operating systems, Windows. Alternatively, you can use Windows driver update tool Driver Easy to download drivers automatically. To the settings of these actions.

I checked this online to see what it is and it doesn't appear necessary for me. Overheating could be the reason, that would explain why it happens only in some more demanding games. So please check back to stress and graphics card. When will they realise the turd they have been polishing for years is still a turd?

Catalyst version This is finally fixed in version Another bug in Catalyst I guess the lazy morons at AMD finally learned that they need to perform in house beta testing of their drivers before they release them to the public. Don't you just love Nvidia fanboys who do whatever they can to trash ATI. I've had very few problems with ATI drivers. Nvidia has plenty of their own buggy drivers. Seriously, Ryan, calm down. Smoke some pot.

The issue you are experiencing is the fault of Windows, not the video card. But they could make the driver install window smaller, this is true. I have the opposite problem of cage22 - Mine won't wake up after being put to sleep. I have to disconnect the DVI cable and reconnect it. Just started after installing the On a Sapphire 1GB card.

Monitor won't go to sleep. Goes fairly dark, but never power off like it did with previous versions. Installer dereferences a null pointer and silently crashes.

Had to root around for a log file before I figured out why. Your page is a mess! Get rid of these other frigging download links and maybe I can find the right one for those ATI Catalyst drivers. Just installed version 9. Thank you guys at the ATI for a great job. For the first time my sharp LCD p shows the correct screen resolution.

Graphics also look great. When installing ATI drivers and other programs you must uninstall the previous version or you will run into all sorts of problems.

If you do not you are one of the lucky ones to have the install run smooth specially with older type ATI video cards. Had to revert back to the 9. I still do not like the new look CCC. Works flawlessly for me on Window 7 6. Just crash and restart w7, must remove and restore system point, maybe fake driver or virus. ATI making this driver? Windows download own driver from microsoft. No problem upgrading from 9. It works, though I had no particular problems before, so I can't say if this solves anything.

Installed right on top of 9. Perfect install! No need to even reboot. Gotta love that! Stay away from driversweeper. Not needed with ATI. Still big and ugly But they work. There's a tip for all of you xx owners. This problem has been the same for Ver 9. Installed without a hitch, works perfectly with no problems at this time. Funny how others have had all manner of problems and I have never had one. Guess I am lucky, but then, I do not want any problems either.

To me, these drivers are fine It seems that "these developers" listened to my criticism. I was actually been able to install 9. Thanks dudes.

Still truckloads of OpenGL bugs in this release. Last build with decent OGL support is 8. Hey, maybe they're a little faster, but so far, no problems Rather exceptional, in my experience.

I know the version text on the AMD site says 9. There are no 9. Betanews downloads are for 32bit only. Where is the link for 64bit? The latest ones posted are 9. Not sure where Betanews got their information from. What is wrong with these developers.

Don't they test their software at all? Tried everything but returning to 8. Waiting for better drivers. This driver runs on Vista and Windows 7. What do you all think? Are there any major differences in coding? Can anyone analyze these file to see?

I blame both the developer Konami cuz i know their game is buggy as a mofo. But also I hope newer drivers fix these issues. I'd give these a 0 if possible. They still haven't fixed the Catalyst intaller. It breaks fails to install the control center with what appears to be a framework error. This issue has existed since version 8. Good Drivers.. Here is a link to the bit drivers. Nvidia are far from perfect, some people say they're the big Blue giant instead of the big Green giant due to the number of BSODs that occur on their system from the Nvidia driver file.

Not to mention the issues associated with the Geforce 9 series and 8 series mobile chips. These work fine for me, I hope they work fine for you. Dissing ATI or any other company and their products - especially products that are valid like ATI's, just shows you need to do that in order to make the product you support look better than it really is and to make it actually look better than the item you are dissing.

This installed properly on my Vista x64 machine Radeon , which is more than I can say for the last version 8. But I was a little disappointed that the Avivo video converter still doesn't use the GPU hardware for transcoding videos under x Maybe next time. I have an All-In-Wonder card. The TV doesn't initialize after installation.

On the other hand, installing from the provided CD is almost an automatic operation and is always successfull. Problem is, the CD is an old, old version. Much like previous installations. Crappy, ATI always breaks all my games when I put new drivers on. Is omegadrivers. I'd like to see what he could do with the 8. To amend my earlier review, I think the Asus cards prefer the drivers on the Asus website.

I could upgrade to their version OK but still not up to 8. Have the bit drivers been withdrawn? Like many others I have suffered the dreaded x64 blue death of screen for the first time with these.

A bit of searching around indicates that this is a common problem with the x64 drivers. So,those saying there is no x64 problem as they are fine are not actually correct. It seems to hit those using crossfire and dual monitors mostly. Single card, single monitor users dont seem to have the problem. Please note that 8 is the version No. ATI consistently updates the drivers for better performance. ATI deliberately prevented these drivers from working on Windows even though they are compatible.

Working good. Since these drivers come out on a monthly schedule, the naming scheme is year. Like some others here have said, the Vista x64 drivers work just fine. Anyone saying anything else is either lieing or don't know what they are doing. I've never once had a blue screen under Vista.

Although this latest driver should not be named 8. Either name it 9. Version 8. Good Works, AMD, keep it up!! I recommend u all to download it and give it a trial! I like ATI but if you are building a media server and you want a perfect picture I had to switch to Nvidia.

I tried every driver and 4 different high end ATI cards ATI gave me lots of artifacts Nvidia gives me none! My system: Core 2 Duo 2. This is the 1st time I have ever had an issue with any version of Catalyst drivers. I totally disagree with 'roj', I have not had any issues with the 64 bit drivers. The drivers work really well for me, as does this update 8. I've tested Catalyst 8.

No issues detected. Ironically NWN2 came with my video card. Thanks Gigabyte. This was for XP, not Vista. Also run the games you think you might have issue with. There seems to be certain software that can cause stuttering or poor performance and this helps troubleshoot.

Display Driver 8. The first drivers from ATI in a long time that didn't hang on reboot after install. No more silly Steam crap either. The 8. Performance seems a bit lower than 8. Yeah, this release has been definitely the best in last 12 months. Most problems described by me below disappeared, however, it still uses CCC crap. Have not had many problems with the drivers though the CCC is a diff matter. With that said I will state that Reviewer: mjm has no right to review this program if is not running ATI and using the drivers.

There are other options for drivers mjmBS'er. Seek and you shall find! So again mjmBS'er get with the program and do a review or keep out! This particular release seems pretty good. Lots of bugs fixed including the AGP one that has plagued me since 7.

In case this isn't clear enough: Your hardware is fairly decent, but myself and others have actually not purchased your hardware based solely on these drivers.

I will continue to ignore ATI while sub-par software is released. The 5 problems I mentioned in my review of 8. Actually, the issue with Crossfire not working on 8. The support didn't catch this, but I think it is MultiView tm which was new to version 8.

I ran some benchmarks and by performance measurements it looks like Crossfire is working well. THAT is a nice feature; I can now use my secondary monitor even when in Crossfire mode and even when a game is running the second display is updated.

Here is what I sent ATI on my 5 problems: 1. All versions after 7. It had shown them as DVI 1 and 2 previously. TV doesn't install since 7. Windows Firewall not-active warning after install, even though it is active, since 7. However, my workaround to re-boot seems to work, so no problem. ATI has always been crap. Even way back in the Windows 3.

Even in the newest video games there is a ton of work-a-rounds in release notes that say ATI users must jump through these hoops to get decent performance. I also get the stupid small, grey square in the upper left of my desktop. This really makes me question ATI's grip on their drivers. Not technically drivers, but where is the Transcoding support? After the card arrived and it didn't I started doing some research and found out they've been offering this for several years. They currently have software only for a previous version of the card and even that is using the CPU as a placeholder for using the graphics cards hardware decoders.

I have to assume it's a driver issue. In fact, I can get stuttering even when my frame rates are over 50FPS. It's actually quite annoying. NVidia has issues too. I'm really happy with the HD idle power which is under half the GT. They've got potential and try to look to the future power management, first to DX They seem to have integrated the hotfix that was needed for me to be able to use the 8.

Gave 3 stars because the quality and the sharpness of the image is the best. In addition to the Crossfire problem I noted previously, here are some more things. Windows Firewall not active warning after install, even though it is, since 7. Must reboot to clear. My primary is a widescreen x; the secondary is x Whoops -- An addition. I finally tried Crossfire with 8.

That is, both of my monitors keep displaying. I haven't measured framerate, but with Crossfire the second monitor on the card's dual DVI output should turn off. I've installed with a clean uninstall regedit clears and all that ; I've done all they say to do but still the problems. I guess my original problem with screen tearing during Crossfire is fixed; it doesn't happen anymore since it won't go into Crossfire mode.

I'll give these a 3 since for the first time since 7. Link to hotfix included here. This release went as far as to blue screen at the conclusion of a forced installation consistantly for serveral trials. To be fair the release 3 or 4 versions ago seemed to have haulted the major crashes that occured on occaision while watching TV. Things had dramatically improved after AMD's purchase, but now it seems that quality control has taken a nose dive at ATI.

The AGP problem has a hotfix out for it. Come on, ATI! You know AGP support is broken since Cat 7. What do you suggest the disillusioned consumer to do?

Write his own drivers? What AGP problem? No fix. According to release notes these should fix the AGP problem No they don't. This is getting ridiculous. This started happening with Catalyst 7. It continued in 7. I have to run in 7. For me, it only happens with TF2 in 7. I don't see it in the other Valve games or in Battlefield 2. That's all I've checked. I reported this to ATI with their customer support agreement it was a driver problem just before 7.

I don't like not being able to use any subsequent fixes or new features or performance improvements after 7. Yes, this card is fairly new but as I understand it the card is not architecturally that different from the previous power-hungry card and that power management and a smaller transistor size the reasons I went ATI are the only differences.

Unfortunately these problems affect just about every modern game I have it even affects Halo CE, though FarCry didn't seem that affected. I am impressed with how good the games look and if they sort this out soon I'll be a happy guy, but if this drags out I'll be pretty upset. The stream processors also bode promise if they get software support, which also begs the question : "How do I Transcode my videos as promised?

Come on, ATI. This is bordering on false advertising and I'm a pretty forgiving guy. In fact, I discovered that Transcoding support has been promised back to , and when the program could even be used it only utilized the CPU.

NVidia make note: if you'd offered similar power management on the GT you'd have had my money. Nor the Who cares as the damn card doesn't do x anyways. I still prefer ati over nvidia as at least they make their own cards. How had ATI managed to stay in business all these years? Again the drivers do not work with modern games. I have to roll back five versions to play TF2. How does ATI rationalize that they put their cards into laptops, the majority of which cannot be upgraded hardware-wise, and then stop making drivers for them.

I have a Radeon IGP in my 3. The laptop itself is WELL capable of running the resource hog that Vista is, but stops cold at the video. Maybe the company should consider outsourcing or something? Broken 3d since 7. Pathetic is all i have to say will never buy neither an AMD nor ATi product again in my life or even recommend someone else to do it. Worst crap support ever just go to game. I'm agree with Floodland. I was using the 7. I rolled back to the 7. New drivers, small improvements but still rolling that crappy CCC.

AMD see it! Microsoft is pulling you down and down. NET crap! I just bought a new Geforce card just be fair blaming AMD. Nvidia drivers are MUCH better. I really liked Ati image quality, but good hardware without decent drivers is a shame. First ever ATI drivers to give problem s. On my quite old xxt pe these drivers didnt work on certain games in fullscreen mode. Also the "invalid CRT type" error is quite annoying.

I wish ATI would have the heart to add support for older cars such as the Mobility Using Windows Vista with a Mobility requires forcing old drivers to run and ignoring warnings. The result is that windows crashes on shut down. While most systems with a Mobility shouldn't be running Vista anyway, my laptop enjoyed its brief role as a state-of-the-art Vista machine laughing. CCC does not want to load and shows that I should have administrative priviledges.

The problem is that I have only one account and inevitably it must have the priviledges. The driver itself installs without major problems.

There are some other surprises like invisible buttons in jetAudio 7. Black squares in Windows explorer are sometimes visible. Shayne , May 10, You must log in or sign up to reply here. Show Ignored Content. Share This Page. Your name or email address: Do you already have an account?
